Founded in 1852, Galt Collegiate Institute and Vocational School is one of the oldest high schools in Ontario still in operation. Located in Cambridge, the school has played a significant role in the development of the local community, and was consequently recognized as a historical landmark by Heritage Cambridge and by the Ontario Archaeological and Historic Sites Board.

Over the course of its long history, the school, with the aid of staff, students and alumni, has managed to preserve a number of treasured artifacts, books, documents, photographs, yearbooks and historical records that are housed in the school's own archives. Today, the archives is home to over 2000 items of historical interest, altogether providing a detailed glance of secondary school education since the time of Confederation.

This website was developed to provide access to much of the material found in the archives in an effort to make the history of this school more accessible to those interested in learning more about its past. We hope that it will prove to be a valuable repository of information for staff, students and alumni, as well as researchers and genealogists.
