Alumni | Veterans Biographies
Students and teachers of the Galt Collegiate Institute throughout its long history have participated in some of the most important military engagements in national and world history. Founded in 1852, GCI is one of few Canadian high schools still in operation to have the distinction of having been an alma mater to American Civil War veterans. Several alumni were employed in the British army and deployed to the furthest reaches of the British Empire. Several hundred participated in the catastrophic World Wars. Even to this day there are former GCI students who make their school proud as they honourable serve in the Canadian Armed Forces and national police and other military services. Every Remembrance Day we do our best to honour them in turn.
Below are the biographies of a select number of GCI's veterans. Click on an image to learn more about a particular veteran.
